(WXYZ) — A New Hampshire woman has been charged with texting threats to the chair of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers.

Katelyn Jones, 23, is accused of sending threatening texts to Monica Palmer after she voted against certifying the election results for Wayne County on Nov. 17.

According to a criminal complaint, Palmer received multiple threatening text messages on Nov. 18 from an unknown person, calling her a "terrorist."

The messages were followed by two graphic photographs of a mutilated deceased woman; immediately, another photo was sent of Palmer's daughter, who is a minor.

The texts that followed stated, "I'd just like you to imagine that's little [name] your beautiful daughter."

Law enforcement databases traced the number to a TextMe account, created by way of a specific IP address, traced to a residence in New Hampshire.

Additionally, according to the criminal complaint, Palmer received similar threats on her Instagram page. FBI agents concluded both of the texts and threatening Instagram messages were sent by the same person.

The Instagram user was identified as Jones; on Dec. 22, agents executed a search warrant at the New Hampshire residence, where Jones waived her rights and agreed to answer questions.

Jones confirmed she sent the threatening texts and said she made them because she was "angry" that Palmer was "interfering with the election."

Jones has been charged with transmitting a threat of violence through interstate commerce.
