DEXTER, Mich. — Brook Gillum from Beacon Elementary in Dexter, Michigan is being honored for her Excellence in Education.
Her students have said they love her because she was “more than a teacher,” but also a part of their family.
“It’s overwhelmingly beautiful and it’s just such a gift to have such thoughtful students,” Gillum said.
She says she goes out of her way to make sure her students feel worthy and loved.
Gillum receives a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her class at Beacon Elementary receives a $500 grant.
