MT. MORRICE, Mich. — Sarah DuCap from Pinehurst Elementary is being honored for her Excellence in Education.
Her nominator says DuCap’s love for kids and passion for teaching go beyond the end of the school day bell.
In one instance, she drove more than 100 miles to visit a student in the hospital.
“Sometimes I spend more time with them in the classroom than I do with my own kids in the evening, so they become mine,” DuCap said.
She receives a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her class at Pinehurst Elementary in Mt. Morrice receives a $500 grant.
