GOODRICH, Mich. — Stephanie Melendor from Oak Tree Elementary in Goodrich is being honored for her Excellence in Education.
Her nominator says her engaging, creative and fun lessons help students find their confidence and reach their potential.
Melendor finds her role especially exciting when she sees a light bulb go off in her students’ eyes – particularly when a student had been struggling for a bit.
“I’m just motivated because I love it; I love what I do and I’m happy doing it,” Melendor said. “When you’re motivated and you’re happy, it’s easy to put in the extra time and effort.”
She receives a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her class at Oak Tree Elementary receives a $500 grant.
