GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids podcast and radio host successfully donated one of his kidneys to an old classmate out in Los Angeles.
Eric Zane of the Eric Zane Show podcast said that he randomly thought of a guy he used to go to high school with and connected with him on messenger.
200 days later, he donated one of his kidneys to him after finding out he had stage five kidney disease.
The surgery took place on December 2.

"It was weird because I grew up with him, but I hadn't laid eyes on him or spoken to him for 32 years since high school. That was part of what I have been telling people. It’s the interesting story about this. I don’t know why his name popped into my head. The next thing I know after a day of taking with him, I thought ‘I think I want to give this guy a kidney’," said The Eric Zane Show podcast host Eric Zane.
Zane is currently in L.A. and is recovering well, as is his friend who received his kidney.
