KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller has released a statement regarding a letter sent to the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Deputies' Association.

This is the following statement:

“As Sheriff, the safety of everyone in Kalamazoo County is and always has been my top priority. I take the concerns and feedback from all our Sheriff’s Office staff very seriously. My door is always open. It is unfortunate the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies’ Association chose to release this letter to the media just weeks before the November 3, 2020 election. I take the concerns of the staff seriously and work diligently in cooperation with the KCSDA to address issues. However, as the Sheriff, I must make difficult and frequently unpopular decisions to address operational issues while leading the Sheriff’s Office staff and providing the service our community deserves. This will not distract me from the important work we do every day to keep everyone safe.”
