LAKE ODESSA, Mich. — Crews are battling a fire at a 100-year-old farmhouse in Lake Odessa.
Officials say fire crews were called to a home on Woodland Road in Lake Odessa just before 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they say smoke and fire could be seen coming from the south side of the home.
Fire crews tried to extinguish the fire from the inside but say it became too dangerous, so firefighters moved outside to fire the flames defensively.
According to fire officials, old construction allowed the fire to spread quickly.
Crews are still fighting the fire but say the more than 100-year-old home is a total loss.
A woman was inside the home at the time the fire sparked, but firefighters say she was able to get out without injury.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
