UK COVID-19 variant found in Eaton County

EATON COUNTY, Mich. — An individual with the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 has been identified in Eaton County as of late Sunday, the Barry-Eaton District Health Department said Monday.

The health department urges individuals to continue taking precautions against COVID-19, including:

  • Getting vaccinated for COVID-19 when available and eligible
  • Wearing a mask around others
  • Staying six feet apart from others
  • Washing hands often
  • Ventilating indoor spaces

In West Michigan, Kent and Kalamazoo counties have also identified cases of the variant.
The first Michigan case was identified in Washtenaw County in January.
