GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Charges for one person accused in the Grand Rapids riot have been dropped after new evidence came to light.
Kylia Kirk was originally accused and charged with one count of inciting riot which could have cost her 10 years in prison. Kent County Prosecutor announce Tuesday the charges were dropped when the investigation found the social media posts originally used against her were not hers.
"After the charges were announced, additional information was discovered which showed that the social media posts were not from her account and she was not the person who participated in the riots. We have dismissed all charges issued against Ms. Kirk." Becker announced.
Kirk was never arrested and is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
