Child hit by car in Grand Rapids, driver takes off

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A child is seriously injured, after being hit by a vehicle Thursday morning.

Grand Rapids Police say the crash happened near the intersection of Cherry and Madison Ave around 7:35 a.m.

The child was sent to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, but is expected to survive.

Meanwhile police are searching for the driver involved in the crash. Investigators believe the car is a black Ford Escape that headed north on Madison.
