GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Just hours after protests turned into riots in downtown Grand Rapids, FOX 17 spoke one-on-one with city manager Mark Washington about the next steps.
Several buildings were damaged, stores broken into and looted and fires set around the city. This is all in response to the killing of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer was seen on video kneeling on his neck.
Sunday morning, volunteers were coming downtown to help clean up all of the broken glass and damage.
If you are interested in helping clean up, Ellis Parking is offering free parking to volunteers.
