GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Dentist and medical offices are allowed to reopen under Governor Whitmer's executive order that goes into effect Friday.
The order requires dentists and other healthcare professionals to adopt strict protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their offices.
"We're excited to reopen" said Dr. Mark Jesin, DDS, who owns Advanced Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Studio and Wisdom Teeth located at 3855 Burton Street SE Suite B, in Grand Rapids.
Jesin tells FOX 17 their company has all regulations in place and is excited to begin seeing patients again.
"We have exceeded CDC, OSHA, and ADA guidelines for infection control and Personal Protection Equipment," Jesin said.
Customers who visit Jesin's office will be escorted into the building wearing a mask and will be asked to wash and sanitize their hands.
Just last week, the Michigan Dental Association sent a recommendation to the governor emphasizing the importance of non-emergency care to protect oral health.
"Not only does this decision provide hope for thousands of dental practices throughout the state, it allows us to focus on treating our patients and protecting their oral health," said Michigan Dental Association president Dr. Steve Meraw said.
