GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Diocese of Grand Rapids announced today that the funeral service for Father Dennis Morrow, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Grand Rapids, will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew.
The celebrant will be Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, bishop of Grand Rapids.

This is a private funeral service due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and protocols in place. The public is invited to join in the celebration via livestream on the diocesan websiteand Facebook page.

At the conclusion of the service, Father Morrow’s body will be escorted outside to the Piazza Secchia where priests of the Diocese of Grand Rapids will sing the hymn Ecce Quam Bonum and police and fire department personnel will conduct their civil honors.

Father Morrow’s casket will then be transported by horse-drawn caisson to his final resting place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Every street and block the funeral procession traverses will be one where Father Den delivered mail during his "glory days" of hittin' the bricks for the U.S. Post Office.

Mourners are welcome to line the streets to say their final goodbye. The Diocese asks mourners to please keep a safe social distance while gathering. The route of the procession is attached to this email.

Visitation is open to the public. It will take place on Wednesday, May 20 from 2 – 8 p.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Diocese asks that visitors please enter at the Quarry St. entrance following the current COVID-19 protocol.

Out of respect for Fr. Morrow’s family and parish community, no recording devices — video, audio or still photography — will be allowed inside the church or any parish buildings during the visitation.
