Grand Rapids teenager shot in July dies from injuries

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 19-year-old shot while on his way home from work in Grand Rapids over the summer has succumbed to his injuries, GRPD said Thursday.

Julian Omar Tovar of Grand Rapids was shot July 22 near Crofton Street SW and Roy Avenue SW.

He never regained consciousness and had been hospitalized since the shooting.

Tovar succumbed to his injuries Wednesday and GRPD now considers the case a homicide.
