GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) is investigating two separate personal injury crashes, both involving a car and a pedestrian, that occurred within an hour of each other.

GRPD blocked off the intersection at South Division Avenue and Burton Street SW after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The first pedestrian was struck by the car just after 9:15 p.m., and the car is believed to have fled the scene.

GRPD has confirmed that the pedestrian has suffered a fractured leg, but his injuries are non-life threatening.

There was another pedestrian crash at Division and 39th Street SW, where the pedestrian is believed to have suffered minor injuries.

This crash occurred about a half hour after the first.

It is unknown if these two incidents are related.

Both crashes are currently under investigation, as it is unclear what led up to both incidents.
