GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids and Kentwood police arrested a man wanted for criminal sexual conduct and weapons charges after about an hour-long standoff on the city's southeast side.

It happened about 8:50 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Thomas St. SE, according to GRPD.

The individual, a wanted fugitive police say is known to be armed and dangerous, refused to surrender at first and stayed inside the home.

The charges against him are related to a previous incident, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office.

It wasn't immediately clear what the previous incident was.

Critical incident protocols were put in place during the standoff.

Members of the Special Response and Crisis Negotiations teams were called to the scene and roads in the immediate area were shut down.

The man surrendered to GRPD at about 10:10 a.m. without incident.

Kentwood police say there is no further threat to the public.

No one was injured.
