GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police have been very busy overnight dealing with several shots fired ending with one person being shot.
Police tell us they have responded to several shots fired calls overnight and had another man shot in the same area where the 23-year-old victim was shot and killed at the Wealthy Street Market on Wednesday.
The violent night started around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night when a fight broke out between 50 to 60 people following a vigil for that homicide victim.
There were then reports of several shots fired just a few minutes later on the southeast side, near Wealthy and Eureka, and along Thomas Street.
Police say they found a car had been hit by gunfire in what appears to have been a drive-by shooting.
A short time later, more shots fired from a car in the area of Temple and Butler and police found another car that was hit by bullets.
Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday police say a victim showed up to a local hospital with two gun shot wounds to the hand.
Police say he gave inconsistent statements to them about what happened but says he was shot near Wealthy and Diamond and was hanging out earlier in the night at the Wealthy Street Market.
If you know anything about this, call police.
