GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Public Schools have narrowed the list of candidates to become superintendent down to three.

Board members met Monday night in a special work session to decide which of the five candidates from the first round of interviews would be invited for a second.

The three candidates are:

  • Dr. Leadriane Roby, assistant superintendent of Richfield Public Schools in Minnesota
  • Dr. Erick D. Pruitt, deputy chief of high schools for Chicago Public Schools
  • Dr. Darrin Slade, assistant superintendent school leadership for Kansas City Public Schools

The candidates will visit GRPS schools and meet with students, staff and parents on Monday. The Grand Rapids Board of Education will hold the second round of interviews at 5 p.m.

Interviews are open to the public and will be held at the GRPS Reb. Lyman S. Parks, Jr. Administration building located at 1331 Franklin St. SE. A livestream is also available for people who can’t attend, and feedback forms will be distributed in person or online.
