GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — LEGO fans of all ages will want to attend LEGO®mania, an evening of family-friendly, LEGO-themed activities at Northview High School on March 7 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Events include:
· Speed Building Competition (race your peers to build a brand-new LEGO set),
· Creation Competition (enter your original LEGO creation and win a medal or a trophy),
· LEGO Love Exhibition (show off your favorite official LEGO sets for everyone to admire).
Other activities include a raffle to win awesome LEGO sets and demonstrations by expert builders from the local LEGO User Group and local student robotics teams. Play areas are supplied with LEGO® and DUPLO® bricks from the Plainfield KDL. Concessions and souvenirs are available for purchase. Expect a special guest appearance by Emmet from the Lego Movie.
Enjoy all the activities and exhibits for $3 per person or $10 per family (suggested donation). Competition fees vary based on event. Advance registration is required for competitions and space is limited. Visit their website for all the details, photos and video of past events. Register by February 27 to reserve a spot. Proceeds support the Northview band program.
2020 marks the fourth year of this popular event which gets bigger and better every year. “We love bringing the community together” said Band Booster President Heather Halligan. “Legomania is a fun evening of family-friendly competition. It’s nice for the band to sponsor an event that all ages enjoy.”
Northview Public Schools has a nationally recognized band program that serves over 500 students in grades 5-12. Northview band boosters raises the money needed to run a top-notch program without requiring students to pay participation fees. The Northview Marching Band placed 4th in state competition in November 2019 and the Northview Jazz Band is one of only 12 selected nationally to travel to Savannah for the Swing Central Jazz Festival in March 2020. Band boosters also provides instruments and scholarships for students with financial need. LEGO®mania is a major band fundraiser and a great way to support music in the community.
Northview High School is located at 4451 Hunsberger NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. LEGO®mania will be held in the cafeteria and common areas accessible from the front entrance and the student entrance to the rear parking lot.
