GRAND RAPIDS — Local hospitals and other agencies are coming together to help offer support and healthcare for the homeless population in the Grand Rapids area.
Mel Trotter is teaming up with GVSU and Spectrum Health to offer a free on-site clinic to help reduce EMS or emergency room contact for those suffering from acute or chronic conditions. Mercy Health St. Mary's, Metro Health and MSU's College of Medicine are also participating in the effort.
These efforts are allowing healthcare workers to open an on-site clinic at Mel Trotter Ministries downtown.
It will be open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Organizers say walk-ins are accepted. Patients are also encouraged to make an appointment by calling (616) 588-8791 Monday through Thursday, between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
