GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police identified on Thursday a suspect charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a man earlier this month.
Michael Eastwood, 23, was found shot on Dec. 6 near Burton Street SE and South Division Avenue, according to GRPD.
He was found with a gunshot wound to the chest after crashing his vehicle into a building near Division Avenue and Burton.
The Kent County Medical Examiner confirmed that Eastwood was shot and ruled the manner of death as a homicide.
Lonnie Jay Sanders, 18, of Grand Rapids was charged Thursday with felony murder, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm.
Sanders could face life in prison if convicted.
He’s currently in custody on unrelated charges.
Despite the arrest, GRPD is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the department or Silent Observer.
