GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man is facing two charges in connection with the riot in downtown Grand Rapids this May.
Xavier Rener-I-Adore Pinkley, 25, has been charged with one count of riot and one count of attempted malicious destruction of a building, $200-$1,000, according to Christopher Becker, prosecuting attorney for Kent County, today.
The riot charge is a felony punishable up to 10 years, and the charge of attempted malicious destruction of a building is a misdemeanor punishable up to six months.
The charges are related to incidents at the fashion store Villa and Michigan Department of State, Becker said.
The riot took place during the evening of May 30 and extended into the early morning hours of May 31.
Becker stressed that Pinkley is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
