GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mary Free Bed has begun testing the use of virtual reality as a therapy tool on its patients.

The REAL System uses virtual reality to aid patients in their recovery from neurological impairments such as strokes, according to Mary Free Bed.

We’re told the headset and upper body sensors will allow patients to enhance their cognitive and motor skills through engaging activities.

Mary Free Bed says virtual reality may help the brain reorganize itself after one has experienced a brain injury or stroke, citing clinical studies.
