GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer is offering to double match its customers’ donations through Jan. 2.
As part of Giving Tuesday, the retailer plans to turn customers’ $10 donation cards into $30, which will then be given to a local food pantry.
“The holidays are a difficult time for people facing food insecurity, and food pantries continue to struggle to keep up with the flood of requests they receive daily,” says Cathy Cooper, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Giving for Meijer. “The Simply Give program is a way for Meijer customers to partner with us and support the food pantries that feed families in need in their own communities.”
Meijer says they are paced to serve 80 million meals by the end of the year as a result of its Simply Give program, adding that they have already donated close to $4 million to food pantries so far.
