GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Jury selection for the parents of Jared Chance is set to begin Monday morning at the 17th Circuit courthouse in Kent County.
Barbara Chance is charged with perjury but pleaded no contest to the charge and accessory after the fact on Monday morning.
Her husband James Chance is also charged with lying to police and helping their son after he killed 31-year-old Ashley Young back in September. He has not changed his plea of not guilty and jury selection continues.
Chance was sentenced to a minimum of 100 years in prison; charged with second-degree murder, mutilating a dead body, concealing death and three counts of tampering with evidence.
A jury will now hear the case involving his parents who police say allegedly helped Jared cover up the crime.
James and Barbara Chances face up to life in prison for perjury.
