Police arrest man after shot fired in downtown Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Grand Rapids Police arrested a man who fired a shot in the downtown area. Our Marisa Oberle was there when it happened and spoke to police.

Police heard 1 shot near the intersection of Commerce Avenue and Oakes Street. They quickly found and disarmed the 25 year-old suspect, placing him in custody. He is being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility for discharging a firearm.

According to Sargent Dan Adams of GRPD, the man does not appear to have any relationship to the protest happening downtown.
