GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After an hours-long standoff, the suspect in a homicide has been arrested with no one being hurt.
The suspect, 31, who has not been identified, was holed up in his elderly parents' home in the 1200 block of Sigsbee Street SE. The parents were checked by medical personnel shortly after the resolution of the standoff and were fine.
Of the suspect, "although he did not come out freely, he surrendered to officers when they entered the house," stated GRPD Sgt. John Wittkowski.
The victim of the homicide was described as a 45-year-old woman, and the incident took place at 1201 Otillia Street SE. GRPD says the homicide was apparently the result of an argument, but the relationship between the victim and the suspect is, at this point, unclear.
Wittkowski said a gun was used but not recovered. He said for now no more information about the investigation would be released.
The critical incident in the 1200 blk of Sigsbee SE has been resolved. The homicide suspect has been taken into custody without incident or injury. Roads in the area will be opened soon.
