One dead, one hospitalized in north-east Grand Rapids shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — A shooting on the north east side of Grand Rapids left one person dead and one in the hospital, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

We broke this story as it was happening Wednesday night. Police were on scene when we got to the 800 block of Carrier Creek Boulevard, NE asking everyone to avoid the area.

GRPD tells FOX 17 they were called to a local hospital where a shooting victim showed up just before 7 p.m. Their investigation lead them to the 800 block of Carrier Creek Boulevard, NE where they found a second victim. Medical personnel declared the victim dead of their injuries at the scene.

Investigators from the Major Crimes Team and the Forensics Services Unit are searching the scene and an autopsy will be performed on the second victim to confirm cause of death.
