GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A founding tenant of Grand Rapids' Downtown Market is planning to move out after 7 years in business.

Sweetie-licious Pies Bakery Cafe announced to friends and customers on Wednesday that the storefront in the market will close by the end of February 2021.

The DeWitt-based business also cut back on operating hours at its main location in January due to slow sales and staffing issues. Owner Linda Hunt tells FOX 17 she plans to continue to offer sweet treats to make celebrations special.

Good Day, Friends,

Today, I am sharing some news that is most bittersweet. With much thought and consideration, we have decided to close our Grand Rapids location in the Downtown Market at the end of February, 2021.

We leave being immensely proud and thankful of so much; especially our dedicated and talented team, our sweet and beloved customers, and the worthy charity work that we have been privileged to be apart of.

As an original tenant for seven years at the Downtown Market, we are forever grateful for the great success our little bakery had seen prior to a challenging past year. It has been a delight to be in Grand Rapids and a destination stop in West Michigan, and we hope to still see you at our flagship shop in DeWitt for your baked good needs, a mere hour away!

It truly warms my heart knowing that our pies and baked goods have helped to celebrate ordinary days as well as life’s special events with so many of you, as sharing delicious memories is what life is all about, don’t you think?

I’m wishing us all a bright year filled with heartsease, love and joy!

Godspeed and Gratitude
Linda Hundt, Owner of Sweetie-licious Bakery
