PORTAGE, Mich. — One woman is dead and another woman, along with an infant, are hurt after a shooting in Kalamazoo County.
The Portage Police Department now is looking for the driver of a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Am who they say took off and is believed to be involved in the shooting.
Officers responded to the shooting on the Oakland Drive westbound entrance ramp to I-94 just before 11 p.m. Friday.
Officers say a 22-year-old Kalamazoo woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
They say another woman, who is pregnant, and an infant were also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The woman, her unborn child and the infant are all expected to survive.
The police department says officers arrested a 42-year-old man who was seen running from the scene before trying to get into another vehicle.
Police believe the man is connected to the shooting; however, they say they arrested him for unrelated warrants.
Officers recovered an AR-15 at the scene, which they say was stolen out of Kalamazoo County back in 2016. Additionally, they do not believe that was the only gun used during the shooting.
The Portage Police Department is still working to figure out why this shooting happened in the first place.
The westbound I-94 off-ramp at Oakland Avenue was shut down during the investigation.
