Update from Monday, Feb 22 at 4:40 p.m.: The man who died in the standoff with Michigan State Police (MSP) in Montcalm County last night has been identified.
Andrew Allen Courser, a 38-year-old man from Edmore, Michigan, was firing a gun near neighbors and yelling at passing cars.
MSP responded to calls of a man with a gun around 4:30 p.m. last night in the 9700 blk of North Wyman Road, near Edgar Road.
According to a representative from MSP, after a stand-off that lasted around four hours, Courser walked out of the barn he previously barricaded himself in with the gun before being confronted by Emergency Support Team members.
Courser did not obey commands to drop the weapon and instead leveled his weapon at Troopers.
After this, Courser was shot by MSP troopers and pronounced dead on scene.
This incident remains under investigation by MSP. No troopers were injured in the incident.
