BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — It was an action-packed morning in the city of Lowell.
Our crew spoke to the city manager, who was able to break down what happened:
Around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, an officer noticed a vehicle driving through downtown with their high beams on.
When that officer initiated a traffic stop, the suspects fled.
That is when the officer learned that the vehicle was stolen out of Grand Rapids.
A high speed chase followed, and went on for about three miles with speeds reaching up to 100 mph.
At one point, the suspect lost control of the stolen car and ended up on the side of the road.
An officer approached, and the suspect backed up towards them before that officer felt that his life was threatened and fired shots towards the vehicle.
The suspects then sped off once again, before they lost control and landed in a ditch. All five suspects ran from the scene.
A perimeter was set up, and a drone was deployed that helped find all of the suspects.
While all of them were arrested, one was shot in the arm and had to be taken to the hospital.
Because a shooting was involved, the entire incident is still under investigation.
