IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — Racing will return to the I-96 Speedway on July 24 after months of being closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the company announced Friday.
It took weeks of talks with the health department and the Ionia County prosecutor to get the approval to re-open, according to posts on the speedway’s Facebook page.
Negotiations and a visit to the speedway’s facility took place last weekend, though final approval to re-open did not come until Friday, the speedway said.
More details about the re-opening are expected to come over the weekend, according to the speedway’s Facebook page.
