IONIA, Mich. — The Ionia County Animal Shelter is searching for a home for two dogs who unexpectedly lost their owner.
Buddy, an 11-year-old yellow lab, and 6-year-old beagle Prince are described as playful and loving dogs who get along with everyone.
“They both are super sweet, there is not a mean bone in their bodies. Even though buddy is a senior, he’s still super energetic, he’s kind of still puppy-like. Prince is too. They just love to play,” said Carly Quinn, director of animal care and control in Ionia County. “They are good with cats, they’re good with dogs, they’re good with kids, so they’re really well-rounded.”
Because of Buddy’s age and how traumatic losing an owner is to any dog, the shelter is hoping to find them a home they can have a happy ending in together.
The shelter says a slow-paced home would be ideal for the dogs.
“They had kind of a quiet life … They’re good with kids, but a house filled with kids is probably going to stress them out a little bit,” Quinn said. “And somebody who is going to be home more often since they are a little bit older, they’re going to have more needs than a puppy.”
More information on Buddy and Prince, as well as other animals at the shelter is available on its website or Facebook page.
