ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Portland woman died after a head-on crash Wednesday morning in Ionia County.
The crash happened at 11:32 a.m. on David Highway between Kelsey Highway and Acre Town in Orange Township, south of Ionia.
Authorities say a woman driving a minivan east lost control on snowy roads and crossed into oncoming traffic, causing a crash with an oncoming vehicle. Multiple people needed to be freed from their vehicle before being taken to the hospital.
A passenger in the westbound vehicle was taken to a Lansing hospital, but died shortly after arrival. The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office as identified her as 64-year-old Judith Nye of Portland.
Speed and weather are suspected to be factors in the crash.
