PORTLAND, Mich. — Two crashes near M-66 and I-96 sent several people to the hospital and closed the highway down Saturday night.
In a Facebook post, Ionia County Central Dispatch E911 said Eastbound I-96 was closed at M-66.
Dipatchers confirmed the Michigan State Police has the eastbound side of the highway shut down as of 8:30 p.m. and police are asking everyone to avoid the area. Victims have been taken to hospitals in Lansing and Grand Rapids, including one patient who was air-lifted by AirCare out of Kalamazoo.
