IONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police responded to reports of a home invasion in the area of East Stage Road and Pine Street Thursday afternoon in Ionia Township.

Dispatchers say a woman was home when someone began yanking the door handle in an attempt to enter, according to the Ionia County Office of the Sheriff.

We’re told sheriff’s deputies arrived to discover that the suspect had fled, leaving a number of items behind. The sheriff’s office says the suspect entered the home through a window, with victims claiming the suspect had taken a diamond ring and a laptop computer.

As investigation continued, authorities say the suspect was found inside the home and taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office has identified the suspect as 37-year-old Travis Michael Minier of Ionia. They say he was arraigned Friday for home invasion, possession of meth and heroin, and multiple outstanding warrants.

We’re told Minier’s bond was set $50,000.
