CAMPBELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One woman was struck with a sawed off shotgun and held her with another woman in a standoff with police in Ionia County before a 47-year-old surrendered.
Police involvement began with a call to 911 in the overnight hours of June 10 from a person seeking help at an address on W. Clarksville Road south of Morrison Lake.
Police found that the man had struck one woman with a sawed off shotgun and was holding her in the house. Police then learned another woman with was them.
The injured woman managed to escape and hide in a moment when the suspect was distracted.
The standoff lasted several hours, and authorities brought in FBI-trained hostage negotiators.
The suspect surrendered peacefully and faces a number of charges.
