PORTLAND, Mich. — Michigan State Police have identified a man who died after veering off I-96 and crashing into a tree in Ionia County.
The crash happened past midnight on Jan. 15 on I-96 near Kent Street in Portland. Authorities say 53-year-old Sean Conyers of Detroit was heading west when his vehicle left the road, hit a tree and caught fire.
Once the fire was put out, emergency responders found Conyers’ body inside the vehicle. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
