MICHIGAN — One person is dead following a crash that occurred on I-96 in Ionia County Wednesday afternoon.
The Ionia County Sheriff's Office tells us the crash happened at 1:47 p.m. causing authorities to shut down the westbound lanes on I-96.
One sedan crashed into the back of a semi-tractor. The sedan went under the trailer pinning the driver of the car inside.
The driver of the semi-tractor, a 52-year-old Lansing man, was at the back of the trailer checking the load straps before diving out of the way of the sedan.
Deputies have identified the deceased as Michael Dean Sprague, 35, of Kalamazoo.
