KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Belding Road (M-44) between Blakely Drive and Egypt Valley Avenue is back open after closing for several hours due to a deadly crash.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police say a Ford Escape heading eastbound on Belding Road tried to make a left turn into a business but didn’t see a Nissan Altima traveling in the opposite direction and was hit head-on.
Troopers say both drivers were wearing seatbelts, but the passenger of the Nissan wasn’t and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital.
