WYOMING — Police say an elderly man was seriously injured and was trapped after a car went smashing into his home early Friday morning.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Clyde Park and Colrain in Wyoming.

Police say the vehicle did not observe the stop sign and drove into the home. Rescue crews heard the man calling out for help and was able to get him out before being taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Fire crews had to remove a portion of the bedroom wall in order to get the trapped man out from underneath the vehicle.

Another person was also inside the home at the time of the crash and was not hurt.

The driver of the vehicle was not seriously hurt and their passenger was not injured.

Speed and alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash, police added.
