LOWELL, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association (GRAA) is welcoming the public back to Veen Observatory following the temporary closure due to COVID-19.
The GRAAA is welcoming stargazers back with a public viewing event on August 8.
While stargazing will resume, some changes were made to make the reopening possible.
GRAAA is enforcing all visitors and volunteers wear masks and social distance while in the observatory.
Only 50 visitors at a time will be allowed at the top of the observatory hill, so wait times may be longer than usual.
Telescopes will be spaced out in order for people to maintain six-feet distance.
Volunteers will also disinfect all telescopes in between uses.
Saturday's viewing event will feature sightings of Saturn, Jupiter, star clusters and nebulas.
