67-year-old man hit, killed by car in East Grand Rapids

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man has died after being hit by a car in East Grand Rapids Tuesday afternoon.

The East Grand Rapids Department of Public Safety (EGRDPS) says the crash happened at Berwyck and Breton roads.

We’re told a 67-year-old man was riding a Onewheel when he was hit at around 6 p.m.

Officers tried to resuscitate the victim but were unable to save his life, according to EGRDPS. He died at the crash scene.

Public safety officials tell us the driver of the vehicle stopped after the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

“Our hearts go out to all parties involved, and we are committed to thoroughly investigating the events that led up to this incident,” says Public Safety Director Ric Buikema. “Since we have just begun the investigation, no additional details are available at this time.”

The department urges motorists to be extra vigilant when driving through neighborhoods with high foot traffic.
