COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — One cookie shop owner is paying it forward after she conquered some of the difficulties of expanding her own business. Combine that with another woman's drive to run a bakery of her own and you get Dolly's Delights.

Stephanie Dolly had been running her self-taught company Dolly's Delights from her car since 2016. In 2017 she was able to take one of the 12-week programs offered by SpringGR and learn how to expand her operation with the help of her business coach, Arlene Campbell. From there she developed her craft at an incubator kitchen located at Grand Rapids Downtown Market.

"What we find in the community is people have great ideas for business but just need that support and develop their business knowledge," Arlene said.

Dolly's business has come a long way. After moving to Michigan from Atlanta, Dolly started her business with nothing but about $40 in her pocket, according to Arlene.

Fortunately, SpringGR was able to connect Dolly to the owner of Cookie Chicks, Holly Delrosario, who rents out her space to smaller businesses that are just getting off the ground.

Now Dolly's Delights is bigger than ever with a whole lot of goodies on the menu like cheesecake, pies, cupcakes, and custom cakes.

Stephanie also plans to start offering baking classes soon, as well as cake and cupcake birthday parties.

You can find Dolly's Delights and Cookie Chicks at 3979 W. River Dr. in Comstock park.

Cookie Chicks is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
