WALKER, Mich. — A woman from Grand Rapids is dead after her mobility scooter was hit by a car in Walker Thursday morning.

The Walker Police Department says she was trying to cross Lake Michigan Drive near Ferndale Avenue when she was hit by a westbound vehicle.

She has since been identified as 71-year-old Laurie Bos.

The driver is described as a 31-year-old from Grand Rapids, who police say sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Drugs, alcohol and speed are not suspected factors in the incident.

The road was closed for a brief period following the crash but has since reopened.
