LANSING, Mich. — In March, lane closures will begin on I-69 to begin the planned reconstruction of the freeway between Marshall in Calhoun County and Charlotte in Eaton County.

The Michigan Department of Transportation plans a virtual public meeting to provide information to the public on the project.

The virtual meeting will be on February 23 at 4 p.m. and will be using the Microsoft Teams app.

While construction will begin in March 2021, it will continue through the 2022 construction season. It will not involve just repairing pavement; the pavement will be torn up and replaced.

In 2021, the highway will be reconstructed between Mile 51 near Olivet and Island Highway just south of Charlotte Exit 61. Overpasses along I-69 in Calhoun and Eaton counties will be repaired in 2021.

In 2022, the highway will be rebuilt between Mile 51 near Olivet and I-94 in Marshall.
