BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Republic Services will take over picking up curbside trash, recycling and yard waste for the City of Battle Creek, a news release said Tuesday.
Waste Management has provided these services since the 1980s.
The current contract expires at the end of March, and the city sought service proposals in Fall 2020.
Republic offered the lowest cost to meet the city’s needs.
Services will mostly stay the same, with one change to recycling: If you want curbside recycling, you’ll have to opt in with Republic at no extra cost.
City customers currently pay $19 per month with Waste Management, and that cost is not expected to increase with Republic.
