KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership has announced the return of its annual Chili Cook-Off as well as Restaurant Week in the coming weeks.
The Downtown Kalamazoo Chili Cook-Off is scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 27 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership says the event will be held outside with tents pitched across the downtown area, adding that the South Kalamazoo Mall will be closed between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow for social distancing.
Attendees are expected to mask up for the event.
We’re told disposable spoons will not be distributed and that commemorative tasting spoons can be pre-ordered here or purchased at the event for $5.
Event organizers say chili can be rated at the event by texting “CHILI” to 59925. Winners are expected to be announced after the results have been reviewed.

Restaurant Week is scheduled to run from March 5 to March 14. We’re told takeout and dine-in options will be offered this year.
