KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputy found an unresponsive inmate back in December in the medical and mental health wing of the Kalamazoo County Jail, according to a news release Friday.
The deputy immediately called for help and initiated life-saving measures, and deputies and medical staff continued those efforts until paramedics arrived.
After all attempts to resuscitate the individual were exhausted, the doctor in charge pronounced the inmate deceased.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says the individual’s death has been ruled a suicide after an investigation into the incident.
